The Walking Dead: World Beyond reveals a synopsis and air date

After hyping The Walking Dead‘s latest spin-off series for the last year or so, AMC has finally released a proper synopsis for The Walking Dead: World Beyond, as well as an actual air date.

Read the synopsis below:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilisation of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest.  Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.

Fans of the undead franchise (those based in the US, at least) can expect the new series to hit TV screens on 12 April at 10/9c, right after the finale of The Walking Dead Season 10.

Collider has also reported that the new show is expected to run for only two seasons, a format that AMC is testing with all its new series.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will star Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Aliyah Royale as Iris, Nico Tortorella as Felix and Joe Holt as Leo Bennett, as well as Julia Ormond as Elizabeth, Natalie Gold as Lyla, Al Calderon as Barca, Scott Adsit as Tony and Ted Sutherland as Percy.

Matt Negrete is serving as EP and showrunner alongside chief content officer Scott M Gimple. The first season of the show has been given a 10-episode order.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will premiere on AMC on 12 April in the US. Get all the latest horror news with every issue of SciFiNow.
